Billy's First Ride
(a bit late but read anyway lmao)
Went out to see Billy, i had made plans with belinda to float him up to sugarloaf for a ride with myteek as well. We got to belindas at about 9.30 and i went and got billy and took him to the arena for a lunge while Belinda caught mytek and put float boots on her.
Billy was really bad and i was thinking of postponing riding him because he was going a bit mental and galloping around and rearing and getting completly geed up. But the float was ready to go so we went anyway.
We tryed to ring the owner of the place but got no answer so we went anyway. Billy loaded really well, i was suprised. We got there and the owner still wasnt home so we unloaded them. Shane forgot to open the vents so they were dripping in sweat (they looked like they had had a bath!) so we went an quickly hosed them down, gave them water and let them cool down in the shade. Just before they dryed down we took them for a led walk around the indoor to get them used to it, Billy was very prancy.
We took them down to the float and saddled them both up and took them to the indoor arena. Belinda put myteek up against billy and we faced him to the fence. Belinda held him while i slowly got on, he was pritty tence from the start. Belinda got on and we started to slowly walk in a circle. Billy was sticking to her alot.
He was chomping on the bit alot and jig jogging and throwing his head around alot. I took him over to the fence to calm down a bit. He was ok-ish. I then took him for a walk by himself in a small circle, and he started to jump around quite alot and jumped up off all 4's and was squeeling a bit. He was such a little turd lol! Besides that he was ok, we just walked a a little trot, but he was very jammed up and wouldent relax at all. After about 30-40mins i jumped off and put him in a yard so belinda could keep working myteek.
I went and got kodie and bought down hay for Billy. Billy wasnt taking to being in a yard and was galloping around, bucking, rearing and tried to jump a massive steel fence, he was really stressed also, so i took kodie in and they recognised each other and he calmed down a bit and ate some hay and drank a bit.
Belinda finished working myteek and i left kodie to eat with billy. We then took Billy and Myteek up to the wash bay and gav them a good hose and cool down.
A lady came over and started talking to me about billy (she loved him!) and wanted to know if he was for sale, she also asked my mum who tried to GIVE him away lmao. I said no (derr) but she said if i ever did give her a call because he is beautiful! lmao Billy....beutiful! haha
After that we took them down to the float, OPEND the vents, and put them back on. I Said goodbye to him and belinda and shane took him home =)

My brother drove me up to Billy, and while he was waiting went for a drive, he came back and told me he found a new rout to take me to go see Kodie (wrong direction but ne who lol!) So we go driving (in out little corola) and he takes me to this weirdass road which is so over gorwn the car can hardly squeeze through. It was funny. The road started to get really hilly and in the end we went bush bashing, it was so funny. I serz dont know how he didnt roll the car hahaha. *pats car* good car hehe.
He dumped me at Kodies aggistment and went home lol.
I got Kodie out and took him down to have a bath, which i think he loved (except for the whole waiting thing when the glo-black was setting in =) i yelled at him because he paws and his shoes get short lol.
I took him back up to the stables to dry and put on his sweat rug and fed him, he had untill 4pm to eat as much food as he could lol! and then i had to take it away so i could ride at 5 for my lesson eheh. he wasnt happy.
He was a pain in the ass to saddle, and was biting and swiming his ass to me. I got up him and got the saddle on, but he was worse for the bridel..majorly. So i halterd him and took him to the arena and worked with him for 30mins on how to behave lol! He went ok, but the bridel was still a bit of a problem.
Mel came for the lesson, and we did a lot of circle and hock work. Which was reallly good! He had good head position and was down on the bit alot. I was happy i didnt use draw reins and he went alot better, so we have decided to use them when Mel works him and once a week for me and the rest just normal, becuase he still needs them for developing his back and topline =)
I was really proud of Kodie because we were riding and there was really windy and there was a storm further down which was coming up. And we could see lighting. Also a rabbit ran through the arena and a branch fell down as he was trotting past. He didnt shy once! =)
Mel said that they are moving into the property in mid febuary and i can go down the day they move lol! And she also offerd that if i put Billy into work he could come down as well so they are together. Which is very awsome.
And she said she will come with me to Blacktown show and even bring her horse King, but i told her if she competes agains me then not to haha, because King is champion everything hahaha. Should be geeewd.

| | surprised | ] | Billy's Update =)
As you guys prob know i was getting a chiropractor out to go see Billy, after seeing how much one helped Kodie.
So i rang the chiro, told him what hapend (fence, falling, vets and everything else) He said he will come down take a look.
I told him the vet sujested to put him down a year and a bit ago which i nerly did. eep, but never could bring myself to do it.
Since then he has improved heaps and yeh you know the rest lol!
Well he came out and the first thing he said is "who told you to put him down...definantly dosent know what he's talking about" *god sign fingers crossed*
I showed him where he was more sore/lame and he watched him walk and gave his thoughs on it.
He checked out his back/bum (lol) and after some prodding and lifting said he had svere muscle damage and the muscles are soo tight they are pressing on his spinal cord which is why he looks so weird in the back end. He said he might have done this even before i bought him, but the fence inncident just toped it off.
He did acupuncture and got this little box things lol and attatched an electric current to all the pins and ran it through. He said he needed to do it that way because the muscles were so tight normal acupuncture wouldent have relesed them. He did that for 20mins.
He then had a look at his shoulder/neck showed me how that he hardly had to touch it to see it was VERY sore, and that the past year the muscles would have built up really wrong causing even more pressure. He got a lazer thing out and put it on to a strong setting, and did that on his neck chest and shoulder for another 20mins.
Now for the verdict =)
He said, he isnt going to promice, but he is pritty sure that he can fix those problems he had with the fence, or at least improve them drasticaly. He hopes he can go back to normal and he may be able to be put into light work in a month or so. He said he has usual wear and tear but nothing that should have put him out of work. So he HOPES he can do it.
He is coming back next wednesday and prob the wednesday after that, and then we will space out the treatments and put him into light work on the lunge to begin with.
He recomended some feeds for him, and suplements and i have to icolate him for a day and a bit.
(i did do that but he got all needy and wanted to go back in his paddock and was running and bucking and rearing in his yard to get out, so we put him in a yard closer to the geldings and he has quitend down a bit)
hehe im smiling =) <--- Like That hehe |

| | mellow | ] | Today i went out to go see Kodayyy, i wasnt expecting to ride him because on Friday he had very sore back legs (he must have gotten his leg straps tangled up with his back legs, because his rug was off and mangled) I had put some rapigel stuff and hosed them down, and i was happy to find he wasnt lame =) So i rang up Mel and she wasnt buisy and she came down for a lesson.
I switched saddles and gullets back to my ap because he was jacking up last week with the Pro on. (grr). I took him into the indoor for a lunge, it was pritty dusty in there. someone bought a pug puppy out it was sooooo cute. Except Kodie thought it was some sort of crazy animal that was VERY scary and he was prancing around and took off snorting. Good horse =)
Mel arrived and we took him down to the warm up arena for his lesson. He was sooooo good =) He was a little jacked up at first but within 20mins he was working really well. He was a different horse...completly =) He was really unsure of himself.
We put his draw reins on for the last 20mins to get him to stretch his nck and back a bit more. When he does it he literaly puts his head on the ground lol. With billy if he did that i had to expect something...it was never inocent, so i have a habit of geting his head a little higher...which i shouldnt do! *have to remember*
He was really straight today, and also did his turns and leg yealiding well. I have to do alot of work with his hocks. But he isnt on the forehand which is awsome. I got some really nice impulsion and a awsome springy walk and trot so i was really happy.
I had a talk to Mel, and she really wants him at her property. Like really. She thinks we need a individual paddock and more attantion (in other words get him away from pleasure horses because he is to good for that, and shouldent be out in a paddock...in those words hahahah good instrctor) I think she is right =) I really wanna movie him...but yeh i have to think *ponders hahaha*
Mel also wants to try him in a double maybe in about a month. We shall see. =)
Ok i cant remember anymore..so toodles! =)
here are some piccysss

Helooo Again!
Today i went up to belinda and shanes to muck around with billy and the foal. I got there at 1 and caught Billy (he was sooo filthy eww) I took him for a walk down to the arena and he said hello to the foal. Maz (B's Stally) was being ridden in the arena, and i didnt realise he was freaking out at Billy because i had my back to him. Maz was all excited and so Belinda walked him down because we thought he was scared. He wasnt...he decided he liked the look of Billy lol!. He got REALLY prancy (he looked so nice) and was lifting his legs high and squeeling. Billy got all gee'd up and started to try rear and jump around (silly boy you arnt a stally ahah)
Maz went kinda nuts and started vertical rearing one after the other, he started rearing and running backwards into the arena fence and nerly got through it! he almost fell over back wards twice and Belinda came off (landed on her feet!) Then Maz started to rear even more he got up sooo high! She lunged him around and i took Billy into a stable to settle him down...which didnt work really.
Maz is definantly becomeing more Stallion like so from now on we all have to be more aware, which includes building a stronger arena. They recon he will be ready to serve next season. Will be good to see what he produces =)
Belinda got back on and he was ok, Bill got all gee'd up again when she unsaddled him in the stables and was running and kicking the walls. So we put the stally away and let billy go in the yard and went for some coffe.
1/2 through the coffe i had to go get Billy because all the horses had galloped down to the far end of the property and he couldent see them so he was paniking heaps and cantering around bucking. So i went and grabed him and took him back. Still acting like a stally lol! I let him go in the paddock after i thought he had calmed down...but no he full on took off piss bolting down the wet paddock. Then he got all his mates and the mares next door gee'd up and they started galloping around and playing. Billy being the nerd he is galloped up and tried to turn at the gate..which was muddy and he completly stacked it and his legs went under him. Kinda freaked me out a bit. He got up shook himself and galloped off and started rearing, bucking and playing around. He was fine just had a big mud patch from falling so i went back to my coffe lol!
After we talked about shows, floats and Aldie (hahah) we went out to shakhani and gazzy and Shane taught me some stuff about foals and leading and ground skills. It was really good. They took her for a few laps around the paddock and she did really well, they picked up her feet and touched her all over. They asked me to help so i was patting her all over and getting her used to a stranger lol. She was pritty good.
We organised that for the Minto, Luddenham, Camden and Cambeltown shows if i didnt have a float and Arabs and TB's or hacking were the same day they would come and pick up Kodie so we can go =) yey.

| When Geldings Like Pink... |
[Dec. 29th, 2005|02:16 pm] |
Hahahaha im bored so here is a little story of kodies life. Bahahah
Kodie is very confused atm over which team he bats for...here is the story.
He started out his life with me in a geldings paddock...much like starting off in an all boys school. He had a friend, another gelding. They got quite attatched. He had a few lady friends and always liked being with the mares, the property was a stud, so the mares all flocked to him..he quite liked it.
Since moving he has been put into a "co-ed" paddock. He found it hard to fit in to begin with, but has gotten friendly now with other horses. I was happy to start with when he found two friends..one mare one gelding..he preferd the mare. For some reason their relationship fell apart and he started hanging with the "boys".
Things got ugly...he got in to a few punch ups and was forced to stick with a few on the nerds of his paddock...he just wasnt cool anymore. I felt for him i really did.
He and two other geldings started to become mates, they went everywere together. Even answerd to each others name. They were all fed together and life was sweet.
Little did anyone know that kodie had deep feelings for one of the other geldings...i dont think even he knew it. It has become quite evident as of late that Kodie "really" likes this other gelding. The other is unsure (i think he still likes the mares) I think its a little unfair that the relationship is one sided.
I think Kodie is the girl of the relationship...he's into dressage the other is into "everything" (i worry about this)
Recently i have tryed to "hook" up Kodie with a mre in his paddock, but she is playing hard to get. I think they are just to similar. I have stoped using pink and "feminine" colours on him "just in case". I even unrugged him and he got a bit roughed up. I just dont know what to do atm.
Kodie has been showing his "feelings" towards him (and other geldings if the other isnt watching)
Its like an episode of days and your lives.
I have conciderd buying him a stock saddle, toughening him up and finding him some nice lady friends. I dont want to ban him from seeing this gelding. But i think i might have to.
What should i do?
Do i just give in and buy some His & His saddleblankets and accept this?

| | exhausted | ] | Ok...time for another enrty!! =)
Well today i went and saw Kodie, i was only soposed to spend an hour or two with him and go see Billy Boi but ended up spending more time and it got to late to go see Billy =( Ahh well another day.
I want and got him from the paddock, he was kinda far away, but he looked sweet and was standing near the dam eating yummy grass. He saw me in the end and came over neighing! verry cute. He followed me every were i went so we kinda went for a walk around his paddock which was cute. He stands right behind me and its kinda scary because he is so on top of you hehe. ohh well.
I then took him into the stables and started brushing him, he was totaly filthy! It was sooooo hot up there i was tired before i even started... I really hate being all hot and sticky eww.
I took him into the indoor because it was cooler in there, but only a little. I lunged him for about 15 mins and he worked up a but of a sweat but he was good. He was moving foward well so i was happy.
I decided to jump on for a bit, i havent been working him hard ridden latley much because he is just back in work and he is kind of all over the place. I mainly concerntate on getting him straight, responicve and get a few transitions happening. Im starting all over again nerly, and getting his walk perfect. Everything is such a long way off!
He was getting pritty annoyed at the flies and heat, so i cut it short a bit. We had a bit of fun in the arena and he was following me alot (again), he played around with some witches hats...and he tryed to eat them hehe. Other horses have biting, kicking, weaving, cribbing habits...Kodie has a picking up everything habit lol!
I took him back up to the stables and have him a feed, and put on his new fly mask! he looooved it..i was suprised he didnt freak coz it hea ear holes! hehe. Hopefully this one stays on!
Well thats pritty much it!
Kriss and maybe Shell are coming up on friday so that should be cool, we shall teach him to jump hehe.

Today had a lesson on Kodie. I got there soooo late, but lucky Mel was late as well =). I got him from the paddock and decided to saddle him near the arena to see if his attitude would change a bit. I was happy to see that it did. I think his grumpy attitude when saddling is because he gets fed in the stables up there and cant comprehend why he dosent get fed first when i put him in there. I gave him a good brush and put my new saddle and bridel on him (he grew out of his bridel a few weeks ago), he looked very spiffy =)
We started off by having a quick lunge to loosen him up. He was pritty good to lunge and i got a few extentions and he really got active and started to lower his head (he didnt have any side reins or anything) Mel then did a bit of work on his hocks and getting him to cross them over and listen a but more while i grabed my stuff. It wasnt a very "full" on lesson because he hasnt been worked in a long time due to his back and the shotty farrier. He was a bit tender to start with but we were expecting that. His feet are actually alot better, im very happy with the new farrier! Even tho he had to put a few more nails in them.
Anywhoo! hahah. We started off by working on his straightness, which he lacked a bit. We did it in the walk and trot, as he isnt ready to canter atm, he has been off for so long he needs to build up. We then did a bit of transition work which he did ok in. It was an easy lesson for him, but he still managed to break a good sweat. Towards the end Mel decided to get on and have a ride of him. She hasnt ridden him before because of the baby, so it was good to see him being ridden. He looked so BIG! haha.
He is lacking sooo much muscle because of his time off so as of this week i am going to be working him more, and in the new year Mel is working him for me also. Which im really happy about. So he should be getting about 3-4 days work a week which should improve his muscle and topline (thank god!) I cant wait to see him working well again!
We have had to put of sending him to Mels to be trained, because she is moving again, in the next month. But when they move they offerd for me to aggist there and borrow their float for any shows/events i want to go to, which is so generous of them. I think he will get the attention and care he needs. Were he is atm has great facilities but he needs alot more supervision so that i can get him to were i want him.
Its starting to look up again with him so im very happy atm.
Here are some pic of the day =)
